IFDC is a recreational folk dance club that is open to the public at large.  We teach dances in an informal and relaxed setting.  No partners are necessary.  Most of the dances are traditional circle, line and couple dances from Europe and the Middle East, although we include some dances from other regions.

When:  Every Friday (September 9, 2011 to mid-June)
Where: 371 Bloor St. West  (see map below)
              (southeast corner of Bloor & Spadina)
Program: 8-9 pm -- teaching / 9-11 pm -- request dancing
Cost: $6 for the whole evening. First night free.
What to wear: casual clothing and comfortable footwear, preferably running shoes.

Getting to IFDC:
IFDC meets Friday nights at 8pm in the gym of the Faculty of Education building on the University of Toronto's downtown campus. The building is located at 371 Bloor Street West, on the south-east corner of Bloor St West and Spadina. There is a parking lot behind the building; the entrance to it is from the northbound lane of Spadina, just before the intersection with Bloor. There is a subway station at Spadina, around the corner from the building. And it's located a short walk west of the Royal Ontario Museum at Avenue Road.  Occasionally our class must relocate due to room booking issues, so please call or email prior to coming for the first time.
 

• by car - parking lot at the rear of the building is accessable via a driveway along the south end of the building, off Spadina; parking charges apply and the lot is patrolled.

• by transit - the Spadina Station is just around the corner from the Faculty of Education building; it's a hub for the Bloor St and the Yonge Street lines (Check TTC website)

Please Note:
We are usually located in Gym 122.  The doors to the building are locked by 8 p.m., but we do have a doorbell system in place.

If the doors are locked, go around to the back of the building, to the set of doors closest to Spadina Ave.  There is a switch that turns on a light to notify us of people waiting at the back door.  It may take a few minutes to respond so please be patient.
